Motorcycles And Other Vehicles CO2 Emissions
As we all know, most forms of transportation emit CO2, and that's a bad thing for our fragile planet. The more CO2, the worst it is. Motorcycles have often been labelled enormous CO2 emitters by the overzealous ecologists. They have never been able to offer real proof, while the opposite is true. Not only do they push less CO2 in the air per kilometer, but since our trips take less time, we therefore emit less CO2.
In France there's been a study, and an average per transportation calculated. Here's what it looks like (the 1st column is the grams per kilometer per person):
| CO2 g/km pp |
Transportation
| 0 | Walking, Bicycles
| 20 | Tram/Train
| 115 | Car (unleaded fuel)
| 133 | Car (diesel fuel)
| 160 | Large displacement motorcycle
| 205 | SUV |
| 230 | Small truck (less than 3.5 tons) diesel
So with smaller motorcycles, the CO2 is less than any type of normal car, while even the very big motorcycles have less than big cars, and if you take the time your engine is running, less than any car.
